(Wikipedia). Inaugurated in November 1928 by Sir Gioacchino Flamini, president of the Savoia Club, the beautiful Teatro Flaiano (style Deco), situated near the Pantheon, was run since 1934 by his wife. During 1944 the name was “Harlequin Theatre”, meeting place of artists and intellectuals as Anna Magnani , Valentina Cortese , Luchino Visconti , Vittorio Caprioli , Gianrico Tedeschi , Bice Valori , Monica Vitti , Gianni Agus and Raffaele Pisu . After a routine period, the actor Aldo Fabrizi . (“Roma città aperta” by Roberto Rossellini ) gave it a newer life and shape. During 1969 it became “Theatre Ennio Flaiano ” as a tribute to the important Italian writer that here represented, with other intellectuals of his times ( Vittorio Gassman ), the “pocket-size theatre” and on the scene kept on alternating, under the organization of the Theatre of Rome and shortly of “anchorman”, Maurizio Costanzo , important artists as Valeria Moriconi , Anna Proclemer , Glauco Mauri, Ottavia Piccolo , Paolo Poli , Piera Degli Esposti , Sandro Massimini, Maurizio Micheli , Lucia Poli, Giorgio Albertazzi , Franco Graziosi, Leopoldo Mastelloni , etc.. During 1997, the theatre was relieved by Pro.s.i.t. by Gabriella Callea that appointed Rossana Siclari as the artistic director. During these years, the theatre tried to find its own personality and profile in order to be distinguished, also with its productions, starting a series of courageous initiatives, such as the “ Piccola lirica ” project (old celebrated works reduced to one and half hours, performed with singers, live music, scenes, costumes), having a great feedback by critics and public with “Traviata”, “Butterfly”, Carmen and other lyric poetry masterpieces. The private management, allows a wise choice of hospitalities, mostly dedicated to debuts and unconventional shows, with an eye to contemporary dramaturgy that looks with irony to classics or to original and universal situations. Within whom exhibited during the last seasons, we would like to high light the humor of many Italian and international artists. During this year, The Flaiano Theatre it became “Piccolo Lirico” with the Tosca by Giacomo Puccini.
